In Death Takes a Honeymoon, Carnegie Kincaid returns to her fans in another murder mystery this time set in Sun Valley, Idaho. She is to take over the duties of wedding planner for an old college friend, when the original planner backs out. The background of Sun Valley is intriguing. I can picture the Sonja Heinie of my early years performing on the outdoor skating rink in summer!

A smokejumper (there are heavy forest fires in the area) is found dead. The police chief writes the death off as an accident. Then a security guard at the fire-eaters' locker room is killed. Things go really wrong for the wedding plans, but Carnegie comes to the rescue. She pulls the rabbit out of the hat to smooth things over time and again. Problems escalate, and Carnegie has man troubles - or is it men troubles? She is a resourceful and competent protagonist surrounded by friends and family. I like the idea of such diverse characters as her two college chums and her remaining friends beyond college.

As in Deborah Donnelly's previous works, the demands on a wedding planner are mind boggling. Especially as bodies and hysterical women abound. Then there is the cliffhanger. Just as the reader meaning me - is sure everything is going to end up with all the characters riding off into the sunset together, happily ever after, I find that the last words are 'Bad news.' Guess I have to wait for the next book to figure that one out. Death Takes a Honeymoon is a cozy mystery, and a delight to read.
