B
etter Out Than In
is a small, amusingly illustrated, book of revolting poetry that's surprisingly funny (especially the CD version which is read in various accents and with a variety of disgusting sound effects). My sons laughed at the verses, but felt they should not be read, or listened to, by anyone feeling the least bit queasy - they demand a strong stomach.
T
he rhymes address a range of embarrassing bodily excretions, from '
Valerie's Vomit
' (which can be read in its nauseating entirety in the excerpt) to '
Bob's Burp
' (which is so prolonged that it wins a trophy). Along the way, there's '
Peter's Pimple
', '
Whoops
' (tale of a '
mighty fart
'), '
Nancy's Nose
' (that was too much even for me), and '
Eric's Ear Wax
'.
T
hough the verses are rough around the edges, their enthusiasm makes up for it. This collection, which will be enjoyed most by small boys who like taboo topics, can be ordered from the
Better Out Than In
website.
