The original Roadfood has been revised and updated, with 200 new listings - after all, nothing is stationary. Okay, you say. So what is it that has been revised and updated? Ever find yourself traveling the highways and byways, and felt your stomach adhering to your backbone? Food is what's needed. Not just any food. Comfort food. Something to compensate for long hours on the road. Something native to the region you're passing through. Whip out your copy of this introduction to 'edible folk art', and find a restaurant recommended by the authors to provide good food at reasonable prices, 'the people's food.'

Say, you're in Pittsburgh. Locate 2300 Smallman Street and look for Benkovita Seafoods. Try the favorite there - the fried cod sandwich. Or a fried fish hoagie. Seating is tough here, but worth it. Statesville, NC? Try Keaton's on Woodleaf Road. 'Food so good it makes you almost cry.' Isn't that enough to make you take a small detour if necessary? Six hundred restaurants are featured in this invaluable reference book - all entries showing just what is served and when, an approximation of the price, and a phone number as well as the address. Always good to call ahead. Things do change. How about the Red Lodge Café in Red Lodge, Montana? The beautiful Beartooth Highway 'coasts down to the former settlement of Red Lodge.' Sounds like a great place for breakfast - jumbo omelets or blueberry buckwheat pancakes.

Hamburgers your thing? Be sure to go to Dorango, Colorado, to the Dorango Diner. Colossal in size and the toppings? Wow! Or try Hoover's Cooking in Austin, Texas where they 'proudly present honest-to-goodness good cooking.' In Maine? Go to Beal's Lobster Pier where their slogan is, 'Dine on the Dock in a Lovely Maine Fishing Village.' Great 'sleeves-up meals.' Wherever you are or plan to go, Roadfood is the perfect companion to take on your trip. Bon Appetit!
