Mr. Incredible (a.k.a. Bob), living in the town of Munciburg, becomes a 'normal citizen' with an everyday desk job. Soon fired, Bob arrives home to find a tiny computer in his briefcase with a message from a woman named Mirage on the island of Nomanisanito. The robot Omnidroid 9000 has gone out of control, and Mirage needs Mr. Incredible's help. Luckily, fashion designer Mrs. Edna Mode agrees to make Bob a new suit, and repair his old one.

Mrs. Helen Incredible (a.k.a. 'Elastigirl') and children (Dash, Vi, and Jack-Jack) don't know about Dad's lost job, since he pretends to go to work each day. Having 'Superpowers', Bob and family once rescued citizens (even cats from the top of trees), before they went into hiding as a normal family. When a boy named Buddy wanted to become a 'Super', Bob told him that 'Supers are born not made'. As Buddy grew older, he developed an outfit and rocket gear as powerful villain 'Syndrome'. When Bob finds himself in trouble on the island, Super Helen pilots a jet, with Supers Vi and Dash aboard, joining forces to rescue Bob from evil Syndrome. And there's a surprise at the end of the book about baby Jack-Jack.

This slim, lightweight, oversize softcover tells the story of the movie, The Incredibles. Large-lettered expressive words - such as, 'KAPOW!', 'WHOA!' and 'TIME OUT!' - add action to the Supers' adventures. The vibrant illustrations display large, expressive characters. Since I found the story layout somewhat confusing on the first run-through as to who is who, and what is what, I recommend that youngsters see the movie in conjunction with the book.
