Snow Amazing celebrates snow, from the birth of a snow crystal in a drifting speck of dust to the threat that global warming presents to the winter season.

Learn about the formation of snow crystals, snow mirages ('natural special effects'), snow sounds, snow bugs (really!), snowbirds, mammals adapted to snow, avalanches and glaciers and blizzards, how meteorologists predict winter weater, and a dozen Kovakmiut words for the variations in ground snow. There's a section on 'Snow Prints' left by animals like mouse, deer, bear and my favorite, the Snowy Owl who's displayed on the cover.

Read the Innu legend of the giant weather god Tciwetinowinu (but don't try to say his name!) and his encounter with trickster Wolverine, or the Innu tale of heroic Tchapesh's fight against a 'giant long-nosed beast'. There's a Russian folktale about 'The Little Snow Girl', and other chilly legends, including an Ojibwa one starring Loon. Have you heard of the Sasquatch or the Yeti (Abominable Snowman)? They're in here too.

Are you a chionophobe, chioneuphore, or a chionophile? Dress warmly and in layers, read Snow Amazing and you'll soon find out. Let it snow ...
