The Dragon's Son is the second book in the Dragonvarld Trilogy, following from Mistress of Dragons. As in the first book, we are transported to a world where dragons coexist with humans, although the humans are not truly aware of the dragons' existence that is the stuff of which legends are made!

But we know better; Draconas, the only dragon who can maintain an illusion of humanity, walks among mankind keeping an eye out for anything to indicate the true identity of the dragon who has encouraged Grald to break the age-old law that dragons should not interfere in the lives of humans, nor kill any human being. Draconas is also keeping watch over twin brothers, one human and the other half human-half dragon; they both have psychic links with the rogue dragon Grald, who wants one day to wield absolute power over both the human population and dragonkind.

This second in the series is slower than the first, and the pace is often plodding. There is no true sense of suspense and both Ven (the human/dragon child short for Vengeance) and Marcus are one-dimensional characters. Perhaps the final episode of this trilogy will pack more punch certainly the first was more exciting and I await the third instalment with interest.
