Shiatsu, the Japanese art of healing using hand pressure, embodies the best basic therapies for life and is at the center of all oriental medical practice. It is based on the ancient medicine theory of 'ki' - taking advantage of the body's natural flow of energy.

Ryokyu Endo, an internationally known master of shiatsu, practices 'Tao Shiatsu', a technique based on spiritual Tao principles. He has made startling new discoveries and now believes that the healing points on the body (known as 'Tsubo') are constantly in motion according to changes in a person's 'ki', and that conventional shiatsu is not enough to heal the body.

In The New Shiatsu Method, Endo explains the origins and principles of ki, tsubo points, and meridians, as well as techniques for breathing and meditation, necessary for improving one's ki power. There is also a step by step illustrated guide on how to practice these techniques on oneself or on others. However, most important of all, a good healer must know how to be 'of one heart and mind with the patient'.

A student of Master Shizuto Masunaga, whose ground breaking book Zen Shiatsu first established a theoretical basis for shiatsu therapy, Ryokyu Endo has written an interesting and important book that will appeal to advanced students of Zen Shiatsu.
