Are there questions that you really wonder about? Like 'Do animals go to heaven?' or 'How do you know someone is a true friend?' or 'Do I always have to do what my parents want me to do?' Sandra Byrd wrote this book to help young women come to terms with some of the difficult questions of life. Following on the heels of her popular Girl Talk: 61 Questions From Girls Like You, she covers another set of questions, to get her readers thinking and talking.

Questions are divided into six sections on: Friends, Myself, Faith, Family, Society, and School. Each question is followed by a commentary which uses examples from the Bible to clarify the point. Everything is written in a straightforward manner and is easy to follow and understand. There is nothing preachy about the way the author answers the questions. Following the answer, one or more questions are addressed to the reader. They can help us to understand the point the author is trying to make, and can also be used for group discussions. These personal questions are intended to help the reader apply the principles in a practical way. The book is mostly geared toward pre-teens and younger teens, and would make an excellent Sunday School book, family discussion book, or something for personal time.

When I showed this book to two sixth-grade girls I know, they immediately wanted to start reading the questions and answers. They found it fascinating, and one said that 'it answered some questions that I didn't know were really bugging me until I read the book!' Sandra Byrd's down-to-earth writing style will appeal to girls on many levels. If parents have difficulty approaching their young teens, this might just help spur on a discussion. Chatting With Girls Like You would make an excellent gift for a young woman in your life.
