The Rabbi's widow is back. Ruby takes off running or should I say swimming in this new tale of her unlikely exploits. Hooked into going on a cruise to the Caribbean, on Bargain Cruise Lines no less, Ruby determines to make the best of it. Even though Essie Sue, the 'Obnoxious One', has organized the whole trip.

The Captain of the Bargain II is Essie Sue's cousin and the byword of the trip seems to be 'in a cost-saving effort'. Everything about the trip is cost cutting, including the food and drink supplied. A board might be more comfortable than Ruby's bed in the bowels of the ship. Packaged crackers and warm Coke are preferable to the Technicolor food. The Captain's lecherous manner is only equaled by the new Rabbi's attentions to Ruby.

In spite of the vile conditions, Ruby manages to apply the detecting skills acquired in two previous books in this outrageously funny series - Fax Me a Bagel and Never Nosh a Matzo Ball. A lecturing professor dies in her arms. She is hit on the head and nearly drowned, and ends up a prisoner in a laundry cart. Fun. Fun. Fun. Is there a possibility of real romance in the air? Or could this man in Ruby's life be the killer she is trying to avoid?

I admire Sharon Kahn's wild sense of humor. It's a refreshing breeze on a sweltering summer day, or a favorite blankie to pull around oneself on a stormy winter's evening.
