Need an impressive gift for someone for Christmas? Possibly someone who used to live in Pennsylvania? Or someone who lives in Pennsylvania and loves it? Or someone who wished they lived in Pennsylvania? Then Our Pennsylvania is the book for you.

Its glorious compilation of one-hundred and fifty photographs of this beautiful state will take your breath away. The photographer, Jerry Irwin, has distinguished credentials, having done work for Life, Sports Illustrated, and National Geographic. Picture locations range from the Pennsylvania Amish region of Lancaster County, to Philadelphia with Elfreth's Alley (the oldest residential street in the country) and the famous statue of William Penn on the peak of City Hall, and on to the beguiling tranquility of lakeside cottages at Nine-Mile Motel in Potter County.

Space is given to Falling Water, considered one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most magnificent works. The photograph of the Appalachian Ridge region is ambrosia to the eyes - the colors of fall trees are impossible to describe. I especially liked the intriguing picture of the famous Boathouse Row on Philadelphia's Schuylkil River. It brought back memories of my mother, who told me about parties she used to attend there after the First World War.

Though I've lived all my life in Pennsylvania, I haven't yet seen all of it. But Our Pennsylvania brings me closer to that goal.
