Pride or Die
centers on Hillview High's LGBTQ+ Club, in Texas. The principal calls it the BLT Club. Its president (and the story's lead) is seventeen-year-old Eleanora '
Ellie
' Finkel. Her friends call her Fink. The other members are Tyler, Noah and Salim. Recruiting members is hard as joining '
is like voluntarily registering to get bullied.
'
L
eading the homophobic opposition has been head cheerleader Kenley Stevens. When someone tries to kill her, guess who comes under suspicion? The principal threatens to disband the club, so it's up to Ellie et al to solve the case and prove their innocence. Oddly, Kenley tells the cops that she and Ellie are friendly - why?
A
t the hospital, Kenley gives Ellie a photo the police found on the ground next to her. The LGBTQ+ Club starts their own zany cyclone of an investigation. Someone tips the police that their Club has been planning a murder and the principal puts them all on academic probation - can it get any worse? Of course it can.
R
eleased from hospital, Kenley joins the investigation, and gradually, she and Eleanora grow close. The drama, threats - and humor - escalate all the way to the homecoming dance, when the truth is finally revealed and bigotry called out.
