The Silversmith's Puzzle is the fourth (following Murder in Old Bombay, Peril at the Exposition, and The Spanish Diplomat's Secret) in Nev March's historical mystery series starring Captain Jim O'Trey and his wife Lady Diana. Anglo-Indian Jim is an admirer of Sherlock Holmes, and Diana is a member of the very traditional Parsee community.

In the previous episode, they caught a killer on a cruise from Boston to Liverpool in 1894. On arrival, they are met by Diana's brother Adi, who desperately needs their help. He's a suspect in the murder of his silversmith business partner and friend, Satya Rastogi, and Scotland Yard is on his trail in England as well.

They dress Adi as a girl and all take a ship back to Bombay, where they learn that Diana's parents have lost their fortune, and where they are shunned by the Parsi community who disapprove of their marriage. Of course, Jim and Diana investigate. They uncover kidnapping and blackmail - and clear Adi's name. This episode ends on a question mark and a cliffhanger. Where next?
