as the seventeenth in Linda Castillo's engrossing Amish mystery series. The lead is Painters Mill chief of police Kate Burkholder. She left her Amish community after being raped, spent sixteen years as a big city cop, and then returned to the heart of Amish country. She's married John Tomasetti, an agent with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

his episode opens when three Amish children find a horrific crime scene while playing hide-and-seek. Twenty-one year old Samuel Yutzy, an Amish landscaper, was shot and dismembered. Kate is called to the scene. Soon afterwards, the corpse of Yutzy's best friend Aaron Shetler is found in a ravine. Kate and her colleagues follow up their primary clue, a photo of a mystery woman - a wild child and club dancer named Cassidy.

s often happens in this series, the bad guys target Kate. She's drugged and threatened, feels responsible for another death on her watch, and comes close to dying herself, but finally brings down a human trafficking ring. I look forward to her next adventure!
