as their second mystery featuring Detective Inspector Maud O’Connor.

irst though, readers are introuced to Nancy North, recovering from a psychotic break that she only got through with the support of her fab partner Felix. Though she's taking her meds and seeing her therapist, Nancy is still hearing things. Then Kira (in the flat below Nancy and Felix) is found dead. The police involved rule it suicide but Nancy doesn't buy it.

ancy had seen Kira in distress before her death but, given her own medical history (which Felix emphasizes to the police and their flat neighbors), no-one believes her. She decides to leave Felix but then he has her sectioned again. She's only let out when she pretends to be docile and agrees to let Felix look after her.

aising questions about Kira's death has only made her own life worse but she can't stop herself. She goes to the police again and talks to Maud, who re-opens the case and starts digging hard. She does solve the case, but Felix is not done with either Maud or Nancy.
