Shot in a convenience store robbery, she was shocked back to life in hospital and faced a long recovery. She moved back to her parents' home in Heron's Rest. There, the family runs the All the Rest resort. Sloan walks every day, further each time, and very slowly recovers her strength. She catches up on local news as well - seems a New Yorker (Nash Littlefield) has bought the old Parker place and is fixing it up, helped by his younger brother Theo. Then, at Thanksgiving, we see a couple (Nurse Clara and Nurse Sam) kidnap Janet Anderson from the supermarket parking lot. They demand her resuscitation story before they set her free, in their own way. Sloan becomes intrigued by Janet's disappearance and finds similar cases online, but they seem to have nothing in common. As more people disappear in a similar fashion, Theo and Sloan's sister Drea connect and grow close, as do Sloan and Nash. Sloan continues to investigate and in so doing gets on Clara's radar. Then Clara learns that Sloan is 'one of the resurrected.' As always, Nora Roberts delivers a captivating romance plus an engrossing mystery with a rather unusual premise. Don't miss this one!
