Born in Holloway prison, Ellie was raised by her locksmith Uncle Mick, who moonlighted as a burglar and safecracker. With her cousins Colm and Toby doing their part in the war, Ellie stepped up to help, was caught by intelligence officer Major Ramsey, and drafted for intelligence work. Over time, Ellie's strong dislike for Ramsey has morphed into an unwilling attraction and finally love. In this last episode in 1941, Ellie travels to Lisbon, Portugal, hoping to find and rescue Toby, after hearing that he may have escaped from a German prisoner of war camp via a route through the Pyrenees. In Lisbon, Ellie works under the direction of charming intelligence Captain Archie Blandings, who delights in making Ramsey jealous, after he joins them there. There's plenty of action in Lisbon. Ellie meets a contact who is then stabbed to death. She's attacked herself. There's another death; a fake marriage; and a very perilous POW prison break from a Castelo. Back in London, Ellie finally solves the mystery of her father's death and wins the happily ever after she deserves.
