Here's an engagingly feel good summer read with an appealing heroine, history, glamour, haute cuisine ... and a ghost (Grace) who repeatedly steals the show - Elin Hilderbrand's The Hotel Nantucket.

Our heroine is 'island sweetheart' and 'marketing whiz' Lizbet Keaton, who had run a popular island restaurant, the Deck, with her partner JJ - until Lizbet discovered his affair with their wine rep. Now she has been hired by London-based billionaire Xavier Darling as general manager for the renovated Hotel Nantucket (reputed to be haunted).

Readers follow Lizbet's hiring of staff, hotel redesign, and marketing efforts. When she was hired, Xavier told her he wanted a five-key review from Shelly Carpenter (a pseudonym), who reviews hotels around the world on Instagram - but has never given a five-key review. Can Lizbet possibly get one?

As the hotel gets ready to open, readers are introduced to its haunt, Grace, a nineteen-year-old chambermaid who died in a 1922 fire, but actually was murdered. There are all kinds of intriguing characters, many with secrets - from hotel staff to its guests - and Lizbet gradually falls for celebrity chef Mario - but dare she trust again?

The Hotel Nantucket is a highly entertaining and satisfying read, enlivened throughout by Grace's running commentary and occasional interventions.
