A Polar Bear in the Snow    by Mac Barnett & Shawn Harris Order:  USA  Can Candlewick, 2020 (2020) Hardcover      Reviewed by Hilary Williamson Mac Barnett's A Polar Bear in the Snow (intriguingly illustrated by Shawn Harris) draws in the young reader, pulling on her/his curiosity, while providing lots of opportunity for questions and answers as pages turn. It opens with text on a field of snow, 'There is a polar bear in the snow.' Next we see a nose arise as the bear sniffs the air. Eyes are added with awakening, then the whole creature is seen moving - 'Where is he going?' The following pages explore possible answers, as the bear travels further through a snowy landscape to another ecosystem. Children will enjoy exploring with this remarkable animal and guessing (to the very last page) what might come next.
