After a tough childhood, Charlotte has a seemingly perfect life - a husband, Eli, who loves her; a successful flower shop; and an adorable five-year-old daughter, Daisy. Charlotte loves her younger brother Rocco, an alcoholic who has given up drinking, but worries about his terrible taste in girlfriends.

The latest, Ruth, seems pretty normal and Daisy takes to her immediately. But there's something about Ruth that worries Charlotte, who is already (because of her own history) absurdly over-protective of her young daughter. The story moves back and forth in time, to show how these worries develop and what secrets lie in both women's pasts.

Something She's Not Telling Us is a well developed psychological mystery, that shows how early trauma affects Charlotte's and Ruth's later lives, and leads both of them to disturbing actions.
