Where Soccer Explains (Saves) the World follows Where Soccer Explains (Rules) the World as the second in an engagingly informative series written by Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton, and illustrated by Spike Gerrell, whose cartoons entertain while getting the ideas across.

The cover introduces contents as 'Facts and quizzes to make you smarter about everything!' The authors as coaches cover classes on health, history, engineering, biology, foreign languages, film studies, and more. There's a quiz at the end of each lesson.

Season 1 opened on poop, Season 2 on pee (with a bad pun!) but the information on dehydration is certainly valuable. Next comes the evolution of languages and the 'wonderful world of words' - including soccer in 21 different languages.

Physics examines soccer balls; botany the soccer field; engineering the stadium; while math digs into soccer statistics. Coaches address women's history in soccer; the work of the TV crew; the life of a game reporter; religious beliefs and related life lessons; biology and handedness; and coaching psychology.

Young soccer fans will have a ball reading, sharing, and learning from Where Soccer Explains (Saves) the World.
