Judy and her brother Stink have been reading up a storm for weeks in preparation for 'the First Ever Book Quiz Blowout for Virginia Dare School.' Stink's been working on his speed buzzing as well as speed reading. When Stink's called a bookworm by fifth-graders 'like it's a bad thing', the others explain why bookworms are cool. Judy tries to learn to speed read, but has trouble remembering what she read. She invents games to improve her team's skills. Then Mr. Todd holds a practice session, and Stink suffers 'Brain freeze!' till Judy mimes him out of it. The news that the other team has a fourth grader who 'eats books for breakfast' puts the Bookworms in a slump, but Judy inspires them to carry on. The next day, the teams are neck and neck till the tie-breaking round - who will win? Young bookworms will devour Judy Moody, Book Quiz Whiz!
