Advice Columnist Aggie Mundeen and SAPD Detective Sam Vanderhoven plan their first romantic rendezvous at a posh hotel during the San Antonio Fiesta week. It's been a long time coming as they both had been burned in the past – Aggie suffered a bad marriage and Sam lost his wife and child in an accident.

Before their very own festivities can start, Aggie finds a dead body that requires Sam's expertise. There go the romantic plans they had made. Their hotel is on the famous River Walk but the room they end up with is not the palatial one they had reserved. The dead woman is still in that one.

Aggie has helped Sam in several other cases, against his wishes. He feels it's too dangerous for her to get involved in a murder investigation. She feels she can be a great asset as she has helped in other cases. (Dang Near Dead, Fit to be Dead, Smart, But Dead) Aggie fears to upset him if she sleuths a bit. He is afraid she will get hurt.

If you have never attended a River Walk Fiesta, this is the book for you. The author puts the whole scene before you through the written word. The Fiesta sounds like a wonderful time with the River Walk as a backdrop. I lived in San Antonio for a year in 1951-52. The Walk didn't exist at that time – just a river running through a city. I would love to go back to see the changes. So, enjoy a book with plenty of scenery – and a dead body!
