With Garden of Lamentations by Deborah Crombie, readers once again can share the hectic lives of Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James. I couldn't be happier.

A young woman's body is found in the private gardens of an exclusive Notting Hill neighborhood. How and why did the killer place her there? The lead detective requests Gemma's help in finding the person or persons responsible. This is the same area where a young boy had been found dead – suffocating because he had apparently lost his inhaler.

At this particular time, Kincaid is investigating crimes he feels are being committed by members of his own force! When a ranking member of the Metropolitan Police is brutally attacked and almost killed, Kincaid fears for his own life. Most importantly, he fears for Gemma's life and those of his children. Who can he trust? Staying away from Gemma and his home isn't a good option. She is beginning to wonder why he spends so little time with his family. Not good for a loving relationship.

Garden of Lamentations is chock full of interesting characters as well as a terrific plot that spins in different directions at the turn of its pages. Deborah Crombie has made it suspenseful and thrilling again, at the same time as she drops readers into the personal lives of the leads we have all grown to love, and keeps a mystery growing in importance with each word. A surprising and satisfying dénouement.
