Jackson Oliver owns an online gambling casino, VegasVegas, in San Jose, Puerto Rico. Jackson becomes convinced that he has made a mistake in accepting a bet that could lose the casino a bundle. Fearing a scam, he travels to a New England village where it seems possible that someone has gotten away with murder.

If this bet does involve a scam and he doesn't pay up, the Offshore Gambling Association could blacklist him and he would end up bankrupt. How the scam comes about is a tale in itself. A woman has been killed in this small village and the first person suspected is her husband. Though the murder appears like an open and shut case, the police seem to be favoring the husband allowing him to post bail and walk the streets.

The plot in this tightly written mystery takes concentration to keep everything and everyone straight. Worth it, though. My problem with this book is that so many of the players have duplicated first letters in their names: Such as Audrey and Andrew. But you can't help but love a story that contains weather vane thieves!
