Dana has moved on since her divorce from Ethan. She's eating all healthy foods. She's thrown out the ratty recliner Ethan found by the curb and lugged back to their apartment. And has given up all thought of Ethan running away from her and their marriage with a 'crunchy, crop-topped yoga strumpet.'

Her life is good again without Ethan. But when she reads that two bodies had been found in a cave in New Mexico and Ethan is identified as one of the corpses - and also as having murdered his companion before killing himself - she knows that Ethan would never kill anyone, let alone himself.

Dana decides to go to New Mexico as a new client at the resort where Ethan and the new girlfriend had run to live a more spiritual life. Maybe she can discover what is behind the story that the deaths were a murder/suicide with Ethan as the instigator.

Soulmates is a disturbing tale of 'marriage, murder and meditation'. The author, Jessica Grose, asks questions about the feel-good life sought by so many. As well as about the so-called leaders of sects that demand complete control over their followers' lives. This book is not only disturbing but also frightening in its portrayal of how easily mind control can be accomplished.
