Readers know that when they pick up a novel by Karin Slaughter, they are in for a good - no, make that a fabulous - read. The Kept Woman, Slaughter's latest psychological thriller, brings back Georgia Detective Will Trent. Take it from me; this book is very hard to put down. Publisher's Weekly says of it: 'Exciting ... an intense look at the nature of loss and control and how love can taint both.'

When a corpse is discovered at an abandoned construction site, Trent and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are dismayed to discover that the body is that of an ex-cop. Sara Linton, the state's newest medical examiner (as well as Will's lover), realizes that all the blood at the site is not from the dead man. Some is from a missing woman.

The site belongs to a star basketball player who just happens to have the world's most expensive lawyers. A star basketball player who has already gotten away with rape! Will has a troubled past which unfortunately catches up with him not only to affect the investigation but also to cause turmoil in his life.

It's good to have Will Trent back on the mystery scene. This book is unarguably the best in a long line of well-written ones. I do hope to read more Will Trent stories. Thank you, Karin Slaughter for many enjoyable hours of quality reading.
