Motherhood is never easy. Victoria is well aware of that. But she is also aware that being thirty-six years-old and nine months pregnant and oh my God living with her parents is not to be born.

Then, would you believe this? The DEA followed by the IRS come knocking on the door and accuse Victoria's parents of a pump and dump scheme. Which could lead to a jail term for both of them.

While Victoria deals with being a new mother once again, with all that entails, she also must deal with questioning by authorities and listen to threats of what the future holds for her mother and father.

While I read This Is Not My Beautiful Life by Victoria Fedden, I had to keep reminding myself that this book is recounting a real-life story and not something dreamed up by a very clever writer. It's a very moving story with just the right touch of humor to help Victoria live through this horrific time in her life. Her number of friends drifted downward. And relatives suddenly didn't come knocking on the door.

Don't look for a happy ending. But it is one Victoria can handle.
