An explosion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art causes New York City Mayor Roland Fortune to announce a lockdown of Manhattan. There are many, many fatalities and grossly injured who need immediate attention. The Mayor's dearly loved girlfriend is killed; he is devastated by her loss. but knows he must take charge.

Manhattan Lockdown is indeed a thriller. We, the readers, become part of the horrible scenes of carnage. We read as law enforcement groups arrive to ostensibly take over the situation. And, as always, various groups claim autonomy over the others.

New York City Police Commissioner Gina Carbone feels she is best equipped to handle the situation and to root out any dissidents who may be hiding in the city. Having served in the armed forces, she is one tough commissioner who has an ex-Mafioso as a lover!

An ER doctor, who helps one of the injured and who just happens to be gay, is accused of being one of the terrorists. Having been forced to resign from the Army because of his sexual orientation, he is understandably bitter toward the government. To top off his problems, Cam, the doctor's partner, has deserted him.

Manhattan Lockdown is engrossing from first page to the last. Great for a beach read. Don't miss it. And if you are planning to be in New York, you could also use the novel as a guide to the city's attractions.
