Goteborg, Sweden, is the setting for this latest suspense story featuring Detective Inspector Irene Huss. The temperature has warmed up a bit with the arrival of spring but the lack of clues leaves Irene in the deep freeze as she looks for the killer who appears to be targeting young girls as his victims.

After two teens go missing and then are discovered dead and a third is then found mummified in an abandoned building which is being demolished, Huss realizes her short staffed Violent Crimes Unit has a serious situation on its hands. A new department superintendent isn't going to make the situation any easier to deal with either.

The preliminary investigation of the crime scenes indicates the only link between the victims beside their sex and age is the curious fact that items from what seems to be the same sexy lingerie set were discovered at two of the murder venues.

It is fairly obvious, though, that the investigation will be focusing on uncovering a deranged predator who uses the Internet to target vulnerable young girls as his victims. Feeling pressured to get results, Huss and her colleagues realizes that the evidence thus far suggests this is just the beginning of what may be a rampage by a sick but clever serial killer.

The community of Scandinavian crime writers seems to be growing each year but Helene Tursten has already paid her dues and proven she is in it for the long run. A masterful writer, she has over a half dozen novels to her credit and her engaging stories are attracting an international audience.
