You've surely heard of Asperger's, savants, and autism. How about synesthesia and hyperthymesia? The last two play a big part in Memory Man by David Baldacci.

Amos Decker played NFL football until a really vicious tackle altered his life entirely. The hit caused his brain to change drastically. He cannot forget anything he has ever known. Even if he wants to. He sees numbers as colors and has trouble dealing with others. His wife Cassie has been very supportive but now he has lost her to a brutal home invasion. Cassie was shot and his ten-year-old daughter strangled.

Not understanding why such a ghastly crime should happen to his family, he's on a downward spiral, homeless and just about ready to join his wife and daughter, when he is asked to help the police force identify and catch his family's killers.

I'll tell you no more of the plot. This should be enough to get you started. Once you've finished the first page, you will be hooked. Baldacci has many, many books to his credit - all of them wonderful reads. Memory Man is no exception. It's one of those books you just can't put down and that you wish was longer when you are polishing off the last few pages.

Memory Man is a New York Times bestseller. That's a pretty good recommendation, donít you think?
