I opened Come Dark A Posadas County Mystery with anticipation of a good read. I was not disappointed. Come Dark is the 21st of this series. Imagine that! Twenty-one mysteries using the same characters and the same locale, and Havill can still write new and intriguing stories of people whom fans have grown to know and care about.

Posadas High School is reveling in another win for the victorious girls' volleyball team. A mammoth astronomy theme park is bringing in jobs and is soon to open. This is where the story takes a downturn. The volleyball coach is gunned down in the girls' shower; a talented tagger is at work tagging the school as well as the giant astronomical dish at the top of the mountain; a new mother leaves her infant baby and a new puppy in her car with the windows closed and the day is hot!

As Undersheriff Estelle Reyes-Guzman tackles these problems, she realizes that her extremely talented son Francisco has been on the road for twenty hours to get home to help his grandmother celebrate her 100th birthday. He is fifteen and the driver is a new name on the scene. She is only eighteen and is driving a brand new Corvette one thousand miles! What more could happen?

Estelle does her usual job of sorting out everything and comes out on top once again. As we expect her to. But getting there is the good part of this really good read. Turning the pages of Come Dark is like arriving back in your home town where everyone knows everyone and folk look out for each other.
