Boy meets girl. Girl is the most beautiful one in town. Boy can't have girl. This is a popular theme I've read before and one that I get easily bored with. And it sums up protagonist Adam Stone's situation.

Of course, it's not her looks that keep Sadie Blood out of reach for Adam, it's her bloodline (clever or corny with her last name being Blood?) You decide. Another theme of this book is also one that bores me, the rags-to-riches story.

Adam, growing up in the Dust Bowl, just wants out, along with the peace and freedom that comes with being free of such a town. And that is possible as long as he wins a lottery of sorts. If he wins a challenging race on the Blackwater Trail, he'll be rewarded with wealth and luxury at Sky-Base.

Stone Rider has been referred to as 'an action-packed page-turner' for readers ages twelve and up. It just didn't do it for me, but make up your own mind.
