Sara O'Leary's This is Sadie (illustrated by Julie Morstad) does a beautiful job of celebrating the joy of a child's imagination and interior life.

Though the first page shows Sadie in a cardboard box, she tells us that 'she's not inside the box at all. "I'm in an enormous boat, ... crossing a wide, wide sea."' She continues to have a perfect day with her friends - 'Some of them live on her street, and some live in the pages of books.'

We learn about many places that Sadie's own imagination, enhanced by what she reads in books, takes her - 'So many things / to make / and do / and be.' Sadie is a delight and This is Sadie tells her story very well.
