If you took my advice and obtained a copy of R. M. Cartmel's first novel, The Richebourg Affair, you had the pleasure of a very good read. Now we are lucky to have the second of this series featuring Commander Charlemagne Truchaud and the wee French village of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Burgundy region.

A young German tourist goes missing in the area and Truchaud is sent from Paris to look into the disappearance. Since this is his home town, he's only too happy to oblige his superiors. Soon his Paris assistant arrives to help him in the discovery of a decomposing body in the woods. Strangely enough, the body's sister arrives at Truchaud's home looking for her brother. A strange relationship comes to light. Also, Truchaud is looking at his assistant with more than a professional eye. He's too old for her, isn't he?

If good wine is on your list of lovely things to enjoy, you will surely find yourself in a wine store, clutching a list of your choices picked from the many wines mentioned in this delightful book. R. M. Cartmel practiced medicine for over thirty-five years before picking up his pen to become a more than competent writer. Mr. Cartmel, I do hope you are working on the next of this wonderful series.
