I reviewed Hillary Bell Locke's first two books – Remember Their Names, and Jail Coach – and can recommend both as very good reads. Good characters and a plot that worked. A modicum of humor throughout helped to present the players as real people.

However, I just finished reading Locke's Collar Robber featuring Jay Davidovich (brought forward from Jail Coach) and Cynthia Jakubek (from Remember Their Names), and cannot say the same about this one.

Each chapter leads off with one or another of the characters telling their part of the story. Maybe it's my age, but I had great trouble keeping straight who was talking. However, all of them seemed to keep their sense of humor intact, which helped.

Jay is a Loss Prevention Specialist for an insurance company. Cynthia is now a lawyer with a big Wall Street firm. Jay and Cynthia are working together to prevent a couple of scam artists from bilking $50,000,000 from Jay's employer, Transoxana Insurance Company.

They both work hard to prevent the scammers from realizing their goal – but several dead bodies in the picture have them thinking twice about catching up with the bad guys.

It's a good plot but a little too sophisticated for me. Again, I had trouble keeping up with who was saying what. And oh, yes, you'll have to read the book to discover what a collar robber is.
