Nicole has a beautiful younger sister, Dara, whom she calls her best friend. Dara is not only beautiful but confident and daring. Nick hides her resentment of her sister who is better at everything. She sure isn't ordinary. Dara shines in whatever she does.

They suffer a horrific accident with many resultant injuries. Memory of the crash eludes Nick. She is told she probably will eventually recover her memory.

Meanwhile, Dara is avoiding Nick. No matter the time of day or night, Nick desperately wants to be as they both were when Dara and Nicole were young kids. She needs the comfort of holding her sister's hand. She needs to ask Dara's forgiveness. After all, Nick had been driving when the crash occurred.

Nick climbs the stairs to Dara's aerie on the third floor of their house. A place Nick has been forbidden to enter. Dara's room looks the same as it had for all their growing up years. Complete chaos. Clothes all over the floor and bed. Trash heaped in a corner. Mold is the predominant smell. The closet floor holds unused hangers while the clothes that should have been on the hangers are crumpled on the floor. Nick must discover why Dara is avoiding her. She must talk to her. Beg her forgiveness.

The stunning ending will jolt you out of your chair. Whatever you do, don't sneak a peek at the last pages. Don't ruin a great read.
