While growing up in Ireland, Fiona learns to make lace and she's very good at it. Since times are hard, her family has to eventually immigrate to America where they settle in Chicago.

Once again the family needs everyone to economically pull together, so the young girl continues to produce her delicate lace to bring in some extra money.

At this point history repeats itself. As a young girl in Ireland Fiona always loved hearing the story of how her mother's lace actually brought her parents together. Now, many years later, a disaster strikes their new home when an accident starts a fire that ravages Chicago.

Thanks to her resourcefulness and her ability as a lace maker, Fiona comes up with a clever way of reuniting with her family after they are separated by the inferno.

This picture book with its redheaded heroine will delight both children and adults. Note: be sure to read the material the author includes on the back inside cover!
