In this adventure you'll be taken to a 'wondrous place' below the waves in a very special vessel. The animal crew will demonstrate how the sub dives beneath the ocean's surface and how it maneuvers using its propeller, rudder and hydroplanes. Want to see what is happening back on the surface? Up periscope and check out what's going on. And to avoid hitting objects below the surface, the crew relies on sonar. Other types of underwater craft are also pictured, like a submersible that probes the deepest parts of the ocean. Others are used to work on oil rigs, salvage wrecks and do research. When your adventure is finished, it's back to the surface where you will open the hatches and see the sun. Young readers will learn all sorts of interesting facts as they enjoy this rhymed narrative about the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of the submarine.
