After his mother died, Moses came to live at the Jumbo Foundation Elephant Orphanage in Malawi. At that time the little fella couldn't look after himself so he needed a loving family to survive. Fortunately he found one.

Using a lot of color photos, this is the account of how Moses lived and prospered with his human mama, the author, and her family. Young readers will learn all about elephants and their characteristics as well as discover how this particular elephant formed a unique bond with his new human family and their pets.

If you read the Author's Note at the end of the book you'll discover this story doesn't have a happy ending. I think I might set aside that information for younger readers, or at least wait until they are older!

There are many how I raised a wild animal narratives available but this is one of the best I have read. I think anyone who loves animals will relish reading and re-reading this book.
