For older readers these pages will bring back memories of this infamous day in American history. For those too young to have actually had a first hand experience, the tragic events of December 7, 1941 will come to life as this scrapbook is read. The volume does not follow a typical format; there is really no formal text here. On the book's pages you'll find a hodgepodge of artifacts, photos, letters, maps, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia that, combined, tell the story of that memorable day and its aftermath. There is a narrative of sorts, but it consists of short descriptions that explain the photos and numerous newspaper articles, letters and other written materials that are relevant to the event. The reader will also find information that presents the Japanese side of the attack. An entire section of the book is devoted to the destruction of key naval vessels moored in the harbor. Scattered throughout the book are fold-out pages that help chronicle a specific aspect of the attack or feature a series of pictures and maps. There is so much material here that you'll find yourself scrutinizing each page carefully because there's so much to see and absorb in this special scrapbook.
