Kath Rutledge is volunteering at a historic farm in Blue Plum, Tennessee getting ready to work with the high school program Hands on History. What no one knows but Kath is that she is assisted by a ghost from the past named Geneva. Geneva is not sure what happened to her, why she is a ghost, even what her real name might be.

At any rate, Geneva and Argyle, the cat, make life very difficult for Kath, as it's hard to ignore both when with other people. Argyle and Geneva seem to team up to engage with Kath at inopportune times. But what fun to have your very own, personal ghost. I think.

Kath and her needlework group, TGIF (Thank Goodness It's Fiber), are preparing for a class on quilt making and quilts' importance in past lives. Phillip Bell, assistant director at the Holston Homeplace Living History Farm, leads the group of students on an archaeological dig to the farm's original dump site, declaring that it is where some very important artifacts have been found. Instead the bones of a human arm are found! The next day, Bell's corpse is found at the site.

Excavating continues and eventually uncovers what appear to be two murder victims, probably from the 1800s. Could there be a connection between the old killings and the present one?

I must say I gained a new respect for quilters. And learned a lot also. Very intriguing. And mixing murders with the bits and pieces about quilting made Plagued by Quilt by Molly MacRae well worth the read. Very enjoyable.
