With two young daughters in tow, Sara McAdams is heading back to her family home, Blue Peacock Manor, which sits high above the Columbia River in a desolate part of Oregon.

Badly in need of restoration, the once grand mansion has an eerie history that includes the ghost of an ancestor who died there over a century ago. More recently, Sara has mixed feelings about the house where some strange things happened to her during a troubled childhood. This was also the place from which a half sister mysteriously disappeared.

Trying to fit back into the small community of Stewart Crossing while overseeing the required work on the house and coping with one daughter, in particular, who doesn't wish to live here is almost more than Sara can handle. Then when her youngest, who seems to have a sixth sense, connects with some long gone ancestors, the whole situation begins to spin out of control.

Add the sudden disappearances of some local teen girls and the reconnection with her former lover, a neighbor named Clint Walsh, and this single mother begins to realize there's a great deal of truth about not being able to go home again.

This stand alone suspense story by Lisa Jackson is a winner and one all her fans will not want to miss. A Pacific Northwest resident, Jackson makes this atmospheric thriller come alive with an authentic setting and highly believable characters.
