US Senatorial candidate Juliana Thorsson has a secret she does not want her constituents to know about. She approaches Private Investigator Lena Jones to have her help a young girl who is accused of murdering her family.

If you have not yet met Lena Jones, it's about time you did. Desert Rage is the eighth novel in the Lena Jones series. Get with it. Every episode is good reading. They only get better and better as the series lengthens.

The terrible slaughter of almost an entire family is the main point. The slain family's remaining daughter Alison and her boy friend Kyle have confessed to the horrific killings. Turns out that Juliana is Alison's biological mother by way of artificial insemination. No wonder Juliana doesn't want her name joined with a killer's. Her supporters might have difficulty backing her with this in her background.

Lena Jones starts her investigation by digging into the backgrounds of Alison's parents. Maybe someone else had it in for them. Everyone had been tortured first – even the ten year-old boy – in front of the father, before he was killed.

Lena determines that the two teen killers were confessing, each trying to save the other. But who could have such rage in their hearts to commit such a cruel and terrible act? Lena is going to find out even if her very own life is in danger. Good plot. Really good writing. Lots of action. The pages couldn’t turn fast enough for me.
