Darkus Knightley's father was once London's top private investigator, but then he lapsed into a mysterious coma. That was four years ago. Darkus has been reading up on his father's past cases and honing the skills he has obviously inherited from the Old Man.

Now the thirteen year old's dad has snapped out of his inexplicable malaise and Knightley & Son (with a little assistance from Darkus' step-sister Tilly) have joined together to take on a dastardly group of villains known as The Combination.

Responsible for a series of inexplicable crimes around London, this nefarious organization must be stopped or the terrible things people are doing will continue. Darkus and his dad will have to break a code, endure high speed auto chases, and survive nasty encounters with members of The Combination before this case is laid to rest. And, if Darkus' dad slips into a deep sleep again, you know who will have to carry on to see this investigation to its completion.

This mystery for readers nine and older offers plenty of action (the sections in the London subway system are excellent) and unexpected twists. This is the first installment in what will hopefully be a long series.
