Dez is in love with his next door neighbor, Riley Frost. Always has been. Always will be. But he's never told her. As the story begins, Riley is in a lesbian relationship with Emma and Emma is about to out her and dump her, all at Dez's secret direction. He's been meddling with Riley's love life since middle school, sure that Riley will eventually realize they belong together.

Main characters, Riley Frost and Desmond 'Dez' Brandt, tell this story in a powerful, memorable way with Dez, a future film maker, seeing his world through a camera lens complete with stage directions and camera views. In real life Dez often manipulates Riley and others to get the outcome that works best for him.

After being dumped in the most public way possible, Riley turns to the unsolved mystery of the murder of her favorite teacher, Miss Dunn. She discovers evidence that she should take to the police, but as a student, she is in a better position to follow the clue than the police.

The stalker-like story of Dez and Riley is interesting enough, but there's also a murder in the mix. This is the author's first novel, and I hope to see a lot more from her in the future.
