Another title in the 7 Habits of Happy Kids series, this story focuses upon the idea of learning to listen before one talks. It is a rainy day so Lily's dad suggests they go into the kitchen and make some cookies. That's an excellent idea, but there's one problem. Lily insists she knows how to make cookies and doesn't take her father's suggestion of following the recipe.

Of course you know what's going to happen! The cookies don't turn our as they should have and they taste terrible. Once again, Lily doesn't listen when her brother tries to tell her the cookies are a disaster. Instead, she rushes out to share them with all her friends.

Unfortunately, Lily's friends aren't too happy with the treats and Lily feels awful (so do her friends who ate them too!!) When Lily explains what happened to her dad, he suggests they make another batch of cookies, but this time Lily agrees to follow the recipe.

Naturally this time the cookies turn out well and everyone enjoys sampling the yummy treats.

The Parents' Corner at the conclusion of this story offers suggestions on how to make sure a youngster understands the lesson embedded in this book. Read it over if you feel obligated to turn this book into a didactic experience; otherwise, just let your child enjoy following Lily's misadventure. I think with a little, helpful prodding your son/daughter can figure out what's happening here!
