Oh my goodness, now what is Piggie doing? 'Ribbit! Ribbit! I'm a frog,' exclaims Piggie.

Of course, Gerald is rather confused. 'I was sure you were a pig. You look like a pig ... You learn something new every day! When did you become a frog?'

Piggie explains that she just became a frog. Oh, how clever. Then she explains that she is just pretending. Perhaps Gerald should pretend to be a frog.

No, Gerald emphatically refuses to be a frog. Why does he insist he can't pretend to be a frog? It is very simple. Gerald can't be a frog because he is a cow! So there, Piggie!

As you can see, it can be lots of fun to pretend to be someone else. But in the case of this loveable odd couple such pretending can become utterly ridiculous if it is taken to this extreme.

The Gerald and Piggie series of picture books have been a runaway success with children but, not surprisingly, parents love them too. If you are looking for an early reader, here's the perfect choice and it won't be difficult to engage your child in the simple, humorous text.
