Opposites attract right? So this certainly makes sense, I guess. The basic idea here is that love is the greatest gift of all. 'Love is me ... and love is you. So when you smile, I smile too. When you're around the skies are blue. It's like being happy! times two.' The rhyme might be a bit forced, but the sentiment shines through. Seeing Dog and Mouse manifest their friendship and strong feelings for one another is a pure joy and will put a smile on any face. The final, big, bold letters at the book's conclusion say it all – 'LOVE will always be ... because ... love is you & me.'
