'Why is the sky blue?', 'Why are there 24 hours in a day?', 'Why do we get old?' and 'Why does iron rust?' are just a sampling of the types of questions you'll find answered in this book. The questions are divided into three categories: Nature and the Earth, The Human Body and Mind and Physics and Space. The author supplies two or three page answers to each of the more than fifty questions posed in this informative book. After a single line answer, Levy then goes into more detail. For example, 'Why do some objects float?' The short answer is, 'An object floats if it weighs less than the liquid that occupies the same amount of space.' But then there's more detail included that breaks this down, brings in Archimedes' discovery of buoyancy, and discusses the fate of the Titanic. There are also fun tidbits of trivia throughout the book that relate to the various questions. Children are just naturally curious about the world around them and this book will hopefully inspire even more questions about why things are the way they are.
