Detective Geraldine Steel has moved to Woolsmarsh, a very quiet town. Her new house is in a gated community for protection and privacy. She made the move help get a grip on her past and the demons that haunt her every waking moment. But Geraldine finds out very quickly that this town is not as quiet as she expected - duty calls and it isn't pretty.

She is called to a crime scene in the town park, where a woman's body has been discovered by a child and her sitter. This park was a peaceful place, now haunted by a killer who likes to strangle young women. There are no leads until a woman comes forward, claiming to have briefly talked to the killer. This information puts the witness at risk. With bodies piling up, media frenzy, and pressure from townsfolk, Geraldine knows time is running out and she must find the killer before anyone else dies.

I haven't been reading the mystery genre for very long but I am loving it. It's so cool to read a book that keeps you on pins and needles all the way through. You have to love Geraldine for going on gut instincts and trying very hard to kick ass. I also liked the author's giving readers insights into the killer's creepy thoughts. Her thorough descriptions made it feel like watching a crime show instead of reading. I dare you to put this psychological thriller down; I know I couldn't.
